Last year, the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman lifted the ban on women’s driving.
On Monday, 10 women were issued their driving licenses in Saudi Arabia and all these women are all set to be driving on the streets in three weeks by the Kingdom’s permission.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Information, next week, about 2,000 licenses are expected to be issued.
“The general directorate of traffic today started replacing international driving licenses recognized in the kingdom with Saudi licenses, in preparation for allowing women to drive.” the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
Those women who already have their licenses from other countries had to take a brief driving test in order to be granted the rights in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudis are reaching to social media to express their excitement on this day.
