BYD Mega Motors is set to introduce Pakistan’s first-ever hybrid pickup, the BYD Shark 6 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. The launch, scheduled nationwide on July 25, 2025, marks a historic shift toward greener and tech-enhanced utility vehicles in Pakistan.

The Shark 6 combines a 1.5 L turbo petrol engine with dual electric motors, delivering a total output of 321 kW and 650 Nm of torque. It can reach 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, offers an electric-only range of up to 85 km, and achieves a total driving range of around 800 km. With a towing capacity of 2,500 kg and payload of approximately 790 kg, this vehicle is tailored to meet both commercial work demands and off-road adventures.
Built on BYD’s Dual‑Mode Off‑Road (DMO) Super Hybrid AWD platform, the Shark 6 features advanced terrain modes, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality for powering equipment, and independent rear suspension for enhanced comfort. The interior boasts modern cabin aesthetics, with a rotating 15.6″ touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, ADAS capabilities, voice control, and NFC entry.

Pricing is expected in the range of PKR 19–20 million, with the first units arriving as Completely Built Units (CBUs). BYD plans to start local assembly in 2026 through its joint venture with Mega Motors (HUBCO subsidiary), which is also investing in Pakistan’s future EV infrastructure.
This launch disrupts the long-dominant diesel pickup segment led by Toyota Hilux Revo, ISUZU D-Max, and JAC T9 Hunter, offering a greener, more efficient alternative. With rising fuel costs and growing environmental awareness, the Shark 6 aligns with Pakistan’s gradual shift toward sustainable mobility.

For Pakistani consumers, the Shark 6 offers compelling benefits: ultra-efficient hybrid performance, modern tech and design, and the potential for local assembly boosting jobs and local supply chains. Early reservations are slated to open in mid‑2025, with test drives and official pricing announcements expected ahead of the July launch.
If the Shark 6 performs as promised, it could redefine Pakistan’s utility vehicle market. Expect a wave of hybrid and electric competitors soon, as BYD leads the charge.
