In a move aimed at boosting support for the country’s labor force, the federal government has approved a new package of financial benefits, including an increase in pensions and grants for marriage and death cases. The decision marks a renewed focus on improving the quality of life for retired and active workers alike.

As part of the changes, monthly pensions under the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) will see a 15% increase, providing crucial relief to thousands of retired workers struggling with rising living costs. Officials say this adjustment is long overdue and reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening social safety nets.

In addition to pensions, the state has increased financial aid allocated for marriage grants. The one-time support, given to families of registered workers to help cover wedding expenses, will now offer greater assistance, particularly benefiting lower-income households.

The death grant, too, has been revised upward. The increase ensures families receive more substantial support following the loss of a loved one, a move officials say was necessary given inflation and the growing cost of burial and related arrangements.

According to Mustafa Malik, who serves as the Central Information Secretary of PML-Q and is also the Focal Person for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, the government is actively working to improve social protection for the working class. He emphasized that these revised benefits reflect a practical step toward providing stronger financial security for workers and their families.
