In a surprising development, Ms. Humaira Ahmad, a distinguished grade-22 DMG officer and Federal Secretary of the national heritage and culture division, has declined the offer to serve as President’s Principal Secretary.

President Arif Alvi requested Dr. Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah, the PSPM, to remove Waqar Ahmad as the President’s principal secretary. This request was driven by events related to the notification of two bills amending the Secret Act and Army Act. Despite Waqar Ahmad openly challenging the request, President Alvi hasn’t responded. The Press Secretary to the President remains unavailable for comments.

Recently, a notable wave of transfers occurred, reshuffling Chief Secretaries and federal secretaries, indicating significant administrative changes. Several senior officers were directed to report to the Establishment Division as part of these changes.

Ms. Humaira Ahmad, who had previously served as PSPr (Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister), decided to step away from her current role. Following her request, she was posted as Federal Secretary Science and Technology, before eventually being placed in the national heritage division.
