A new wave of investment could be headed to Pakistan’s digital sector as Chinese-backed PeaceCable International Network signals strong interest in expanding its footprint in the country. The conversation took place on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, where Pakistan’s Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with PeaceCable’s top leadership.

PeaceCable, known for its large-scale submarine and terrestrial fiber-optic infrastructure, is positioning itself as a key player in the next chapter of Pakistan’s digital transformation. With an annual revenue base nearing $24 billion, the company brings not just financial muscle but also the technology required to strengthen digital connectivity at scale.
Discussions focused on accelerating broadband coverage and building robust fiber infrastructure across the country. The company was briefed on Pakistan’s National Fiberization Policy, a cornerstone of the government’s wider vision for a fully connected digital nation. Among the key national targets are connecting 10 million households to high-speed fiber internet within three years and increasing the fiberization of mobile towers from 14% to 60%, ambitious goals that require international collaboration and investment.

PeaceCable was invited to take part in Pakistan’s FTTH (Fiber to the Home) rollout and consider opportunities in the ODN (Optical Distribution Network) market. The minister also highlighted ongoing reforms to reduce Right of Way costs and streamline approvals, making it easier for companies like PeaceCable to do business in the country.
Backed by strong political will and strategic vision, Pakistan is aiming to become a digital hub in the region. With players like PeaceCable entering the conversation, that vision may be a step closer to reality.
