In a landmark development for international travelers, Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport has become the first airport in Pakistan to provide international driving license services directly on-site. The move is aimed at easing the pre-travel burden for overseas Pakistanis and frequent flyers.

Launched by the Lahore Traffic Police, the facility includes a dedicated kiosk inside the airport that issues international driving licenses and other related services around the clock. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed, who described it as a major step forward in citizen convenience and public service reform.

A One-Stop Licensing Hub

The kiosk allows travelers to secure international driving permits in just a few minutes, without the hassle of visiting licensing centers days or weeks in advance. In addition to international permits, the kiosk provides several services including:
- New driving license issuance
- License renewal
- Duplicate licenses
- Learner’s permits
Whether you’re heading abroad for work, studies, or tourism, the new facility ensures that your documentation is sorted before you even board your flight.
24/7 Accessibility for Travelers

One of the most significant features of this service is its availability. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the kiosk accommodates passengers flying at all hours, particularly those with last-minute travel plans or limited time.
Officials emphasized that the facility reflects the government’s ongoing push to modernize and digitize public services. By offering convenience at the point of departure, the Lahore Traffic Police hopes to ease stress for passengers and increase compliance with international driving regulations.
This initiative is expected to be a game-changer for overseas Pakistanis, and there are already calls for similar facilities to be established at other major airports across the country.
