Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota, aged 28, tragically died in a car accident near Zamora, northwestern Spain, on July 3, 2025, alongside his 26-year-old brother André Silva. According to the Spanish Civil Guard, their Lamborghini veered off the A‑52 highway (likely due to a tyre blowout) then burst into flames, with both brothers reportedly killed on the spot.

Jota rose to prominence at Paços de Ferreira and Atlético Madrid before breaking out at Wolves and signing with Liverpool in September 2020. Across 182 appearances for Liverpool, he scored 65 goals and contributed significantly to their 2024–25 Premier League title win. He also earned 49 caps for Portugal, winning the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.
